Storage Plans Overview

Feedtracks offers flexible storage based on your plan:

All plans include unlimited tracks, comments, and collaborators.

What Counts Toward Your Quota

Audio Files

Track uploads:

  • Original uploaded files (WAV, MP3, FLAC, etc.)
  • All versions of a track (versioning system)
  • Compressed format conversions (automatic)

Typical file sizes:

  • 3-minute track (WAV/44.1kHz): ~30 MB
  • 3-minute track (320kbps MP3): ~7 MB
  • 3-minute track (FLAC): ~20 MB
  • 1-hour album (WAV): ~600 MB

Comments and Attachments

Audio comments:

  • Voice comments (up to 2 minutes each)
  • ~500 KB - 1 MB per comment
  • 100 audio comments ≈ 100 MB

File attachments (Studio plan):

  • PDFs, images, documents attached to comments
  • Each attachment counts toward total quota

Other Files

Profile and artwork:

  • Profile pictures (negligible, <1 MB)
  • Track artwork/cover images (compressed, ~500 KB each)

Metadata and text:

  • Comments, descriptions, tags: Do not count
  • Project metadata: Does not count
  • Folder structure: Does not count

Checking Your Storage Usage

Dashboard View

Storage usage dashboard

Access storage overview:

  1. Go to SettingsStorage
  2. View total usage vs. available quota
  3. See breakdown by category:
    • Audio tracks
    • Track versions
    • Audio comments
    • Attachments (if applicable)

Visual indicators:

  • 🟢 Green: Under 70% usage
  • 🟡 Yellow: 70-90% usage (warning)
  • 🔴 Red: Over 90% usage (action needed)

Track-Level Details

See storage per track:

  1. Navigate to any folder or drive
  2. Enable List View (toggle in top-right)
  3. View Size column for each track

Sorting options:

  • Sort by Size to find largest files
  • Filter by Date Added to find old content
  • Group by Format to identify WAV files

Space-Saving Insights (Pro/Studio)

Automated recommendations:

  • Tracks with many versions (consider archiving old versions)
  • Large WAV files that could be compressed
  • Duplicate uploads across drives
  • Unused tracks (no plays in 90+ days)

Managing Your Storage

Optimizing File Uploads

Choose the right format:

Use WAV/FLAC when:

  • Master copies for distribution
  • Archival purposes
  • High-fidelity required (mixing/mastering)

Use MP3 (320kbps) when:

  • Demos and rough mixes
  • Client review versions
  • Sharing for feedback only

Tip: Upload WAV for finals, MP3 for works-in-progress. This can reduce storage by 70-80%.

Version Management

Track versions consume storage - manage wisely:

Archive old versions:

  1. Open track details
  2. Go to Versions tab
  3. Select outdated versions
  4. Click Archive (moves to cold storage)

Archived versions:

  • Don’t count toward active quota
  • Can be restored anytime
  • $0.01/GB/month storage fee (Studio plan only)

Delete unnecessary versions:

  • Test uploads that aren’t needed
  • Duplicate versions
  • Versions marked “superseded”

Best practice: Keep only current + 2-3 previous versions active.

Cleaning Up Audio Comments

Review old audio feedback:

  1. Go to track with many audio comments
  2. Click Comments tab
  3. Sort by Date (oldest first)
  4. Delete resolved/outdated audio comments

When to delete:

  • Comments on tracks no longer in use
  • Resolved feedback that’s been implemented
  • Test comments from onboarding
  • Duplicate feedback

Bulk operations (Pro/Studio):

  • Select multiple comments
  • Choose Delete Selected
  • Confirm bulk deletion

Using Trash Efficiently

Trash doesn’t free space immediately:

  • Deleted files stay in trash for 30 days
  • Still count toward quota during trash period
  • Permanently delete to free space instantly

Empty trash:

  1. Go to Trash from main menu
  2. Review items to ensure nothing needed
  3. Click Empty Trash (permanent)
  4. Confirm deletion

Tip: Set a monthly reminder to review and empty trash.

Grace Periods and Overage

How Grace Periods Work

When you exceed your storage quota:

  1. Warning notification at 90% usage
  2. Soft limit reached at 100% - grace period begins
  3. Upload restricted after grace period expires
  4. Existing files remain accessible (no data loss)

Grace period durations:

  • Fan: 7 days
  • Pro: 14 days
  • Studio: 30 days

During grace period:

  • ✅ Access all existing files
  • ✅ Play, comment, and share tracks
  • ✅ Download your content
  • ❌ Upload new tracks
  • ❌ Record new audio comments

Resolving Overage

Option 1: Free up space

  1. Delete unnecessary tracks or versions
  2. Archive old audio comments
  3. Empty trash to free space immediately
  4. Wait for changes to process (~5 minutes)

Option 2: Upgrade plan

  1. Go to SettingsBilling
  2. Select a higher plan tier
  3. New storage available immediately
  4. Prorated billing for remaining month

Option 3: Add-on storage (Pro/Studio)

  • Purchase additional storage blocks
  • 50 GB for $5/month
  • 100 GB for $9/month
  • Stackable (buy multiple blocks)

Storage Best Practices

For Individual Artists

Organize by project:

  • One shared drive per album/EP
  • Archive completed projects to free quota
  • Keep only active works in main drives

File format strategy:

  • Masters: WAV/FLAC
  • Demos/sketches: MP3 320kbps
  • Review versions: MP3 256kbps

Cleanup routine:

  • Monthly: Empty trash
  • Quarterly: Archive old versions
  • Yearly: Review and delete unused projects

For Teams and Studios

Role-based storage management:

  • Assign one person as “storage admin”
  • Monthly review of storage usage
  • Team guidelines for file formats
  • Automated cleanup workflows (Studio plan)

Client project workflow:

  1. Upload sessions as MP3 for review
  2. Final masters as WAV when approved
  3. Archive project after delivery
  4. Delete client reviews after 90 days

Multi-drive strategy:

  • Active projects: Main drive
  • Archive: Separate “Archive” drive
  • Client reviews: Separate “Clients” drive
  • Delete client drive contents monthly

Automated Storage Management (Studio Plan)

Auto-archive rules:

  • Archive versions older than 90 days
  • Archive tracks with no activity in 180 days
  • Auto-delete trash after 7 days
  • Compress redundant audio comments

Storage alerts:

  • Email at 75%, 90%, 100% usage
  • Slack notifications for team admins
  • Weekly storage reports
  • Forecast when quota will be reached

Troubleshooting

Storage not updating after deletion

Cause: Processing delay or trash not emptied

Solutions:

  1. Wait 5-10 minutes for processing
  2. Empty trash to permanently delete
  3. Refresh the page
  4. Clear browser cache
  5. Contact support if issue persists after 1 hour

Can’t upload despite having space

Cause: Individual file size limit or quota calculation

Solutions:

  1. Check file size - max 500 MB per upload
  2. Verify trash is empty
  3. Ensure you’re under quota (not in grace period)
  4. Try uploading smaller file as test
  5. Check for pending uploads (may reserve space)

Usage shows more than expected

Cause: Version history or audio comments

Solutions:

  1. Check Versions tab on large tracks
  2. Review audio comment count per track
  3. Look for duplicate uploads
  4. Use storage insights to identify culprits
  5. Archive or delete unnecessary versions

Quota exceeded immediately after upgrade

Cause: Upgrade propagation delay

Solutions:

  1. Log out and log back in
  2. Wait 5-10 minutes for system update
  3. Clear browser cache and cookies
  4. Try from different browser/device
  5. Contact support with upgrade receipt
